We can all use a little self-care. How do you plan to gift some of your friends, family members and brand supporters with a little bit of self-care? How about a self-care box featuring items from small business owners. For Christmas and Galentine’s Day, I created these special boxes for friends that featured products from Black women-owned businesses or business owners from Tennessee as a way to support local businesses. These boxes are a perfect way to fuel your local economy while showing your mother, friends and brand partners some special love. Here’s my how-to you for recreating this Small Biz Self-Care Box:
- First, you need a cute box. You don’t have to, but an attractive box makes everything better, and your recipients can reuse them or regift them. You can get customized one through Etsy or find a holiday-themed one at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Hobby Lobby or Target. Although retail is opening in some states, be safe and order them online.
- Create a theme around the small business you will support. It can be themed around a location, alumni, industry (food box), or interest (reading box).
- Select the businesses you will support and order your items. For my Tennessee themed box, I supported the following companies:
- Kinimi Kitchen Cajun Popcorn
- The Clarity Shop Candles
- Chicago French Press Coffee
- I also included lemon mugs, lemon luggage tags, and a personalized lemon block from Etsy.
- Package your box and now you are ready to ship.
Here are some other businesses you can add to your theme boxes or gift ideas:
- Polish Nails & Concierge Home Ritual Kit
- MĀKTUB Studio Candles
- Bloom by Simply Lanae (100% all-natural, eco-friendly, luxurious,toxin-free, self-care products)
- Lottie Belle hair oils
- Harambee Crafts face masks and other handcrafted goods
- Paint N Pour House Party Pack
- A gift card to a restaurant or e-card for Postmates/DoorDash/UberEats deliver
